Wavebreak

Following the launch of its new carbonation line last month, Kingsland Drinks has signed a deal with major retailer Marks and Spencer to develop the first customer brand carbonated wine – Wave Break Pink Fizz, on shelf from June.

Bottled for the first time on Tuesday 17th May, Wave Break Pink Fizz answers the rising demand for sparkling wine[1]. The new carbonated variant is made from Californian Muscat grapes, carries an ABV of 11% and joins M&S’ pre-existing Wave Break range, comprising four still wines: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Zinfandel Rosé and Merlot.

M&S worked closely with Kingsland, using its unique consumer insight tool WinePRO to identity an opportunity amongst ‘beginners’ and ‘risk-averse youngsters’ consumers.  This supported a range review of the retailer’s Californian offering, which illustrated an opening for a carbonated variant.

Neil Anderson, Marketing Director of Kingsland, comments: “We are delighted to be working with M&S to develop a sparkling solution via our new carbonation line.  Given the increasing consumer thirst for sparkling products and following positive feedback on the line, we identified the perfect opportunity to partner with the retailer and bring Wave Break Pink Fizz to market. It’s a really exciting time for the wine industry and we’re proud to be at the forefront of this activity”

Available from June – just in time for summer, Wave Break Pink Fizz is fresh, fruity and best served chilled. It is recommended that it be enjoyed with strawberries, snacks or light desserts.
